Like owners of other businesses, credit union members elect the board of directors who oversee the institution. This ownership structure helps ensure that the credit union is focused on one thing only: providing the best possible value to its members.

Fewer fees and higher rates on savings products
Credit union’s earnings are returned to members in the form of higher interest on deposit accounts, lower interest rates on loans and enhancements to other credit union services. Since credit unions are exempt from federal income tax, more money stays in the credit union instead of being taxed away.
