How we work
A credit union is a special type of financial institution. It’s one that’s owned and democratically controlled by the members it serves—not by stockholders. In other words, credit unions aren’t built for profits— they’re built to give members the best deal possible. And earnings aren’t sent to Wall Street—they’re returned to members in the form of more generous interest rates and new and better services. We pride ourselves on keeping money where it belongs; right here in Hudson County to better support our community. We strive to put our members first, giving you the power to make better financial decisions and the tools they need to reach their goals. Remember—anything you can do at a bank, you can do right here at Liberty Savings Federal Credit Union.
Membership equals ownership
Like owners of other businesses, credit union members elect the board of directors who oversee the institution. This ownership structure helps ensure that the credit union is focused on one thing only: providing the best possible value to its members.
Fewer fees and higher rates on savings products
Credit union’s earnings are returned to members in the form of higher interest on deposit accounts, lower interest rates on loans and enhancements to other credit union services. Since credit unions are exempt from federal income tax, more money stays in the credit union instead of being taxed away.
